Our daycare at Frederik Hendrikstaat is located on the ground floor of a building in Amsterdam-West.

There is a sensory room for the youngest babies, allowing them to adapt to a new environment at their own pace and rhythm, with plenty of personal attention for both the child and the parent. For older babies and toddlers, we provide our independent pedagogical approach, plenty of creative challenge and fine outdoor play moments.

Groups Frederik Hendrikstraat

Baby group (10 weeks – 18 months)

At our location, we have considered the needs of babies who are lying down, crawling, and walking. There is plenty of space for babies who are lying down to safely observe the moving children from a distance. For crawling and walking babies, there is climbing and scrambling equipment. For walking children, there is a stimulating play kitchen. A quiet seating area is available for bottle-feeding. There are various mirrors where children can look at themselves and become familiar with their own reflection.

The location consists of one group with a maximum of 14 children and 3 pedagogical staff members.

Toddler-Pre-school group (18 months- 3 years)

This group is for children aged 1.5 to 3 years and is designed to be engaging and suited to their developmental stage. A climbing and scrambling area has been created to help children practice their motor skills. There is also a play kitchen, a building area, a green corner, a playhouse for imaginative play, a creative corner, and a reading nook for quiet book time. To support the independence of the older children, the group has its own toilets and a cupboard where plates and cups for lunch are stored, allowing them to help set the table.

Pre-school group (3+ years)

We want to offer our older toddlers more space in the larger and more challenging playground of Westerpark. Toddlers between 2.5 and 3 years old will therefore be given priority for a spot at SamSam Westerpark. Parents can, of course, also choose to transition to the preschool starting at toddler age. At the start of the contract period at the SamSam Frederik Hendrikstraat location, parents can indicate if they would like to use the priority list for SamSam Westerpark.

SamSam has a waiting list. We are a small daycare with 14 spots available per day for children aged 10 weeks to 2.5 years and 24 spots for children aged 2 to 4 years. We do our best to align your wishes with the available options as effectively as possible.

SamSam is open for 10.5 hours daily.

SamSam is open 52 weeks a year from Monday to Friday. We’re open from 7:45 till 18:15. Annually, we have a study day. This day, SamSam is closed. Also, we are closed during Dutch bank holidays. On 24th and 31st of December, we close at 5:00 pm.

Every year, the Municipal Health Service (GGD) checks that our facilities meet national quality standards and requirements. SamSam complies with all the requirements of the ‘Wet kinderopvang’. How do I calculate my childcare allowance from the Tax authorities?

Childcare allowance is an allowance for parents’ childcare costs. The government contribution depends on the parents’ income. The Tax authorities De Belastingdienst pays the allowance. How does the application process work and when will I know if a place is available for my child?

Once you have registered your child via the registration form, you will receive a message confirming that your registration has been received and processed. You will then be registered on the waiting list. When a place becomes available in one of our groups, we review the waiting list and see which child qualifies for the spot.

We do our best to plan approximately 6 months ahead, but in practice, it may also be the case that a spot can be offered at shorter notice. This could be for example when a child moves, or wants to take fewer days. When we want to offer a place to parents, we do so by e-mail.
